Ceramic Cloth

This cloth is a knit textile composed of ceramic fibers. Because of its extreme temperature resistance (up to 3,900 °F) and flexibility, it provides the lowest thermal conductivity of any commercially available refractory fiber material. It can easily be cut to size, cemented, or even made rigid to meet the requirements of the application. It is made of the highest quality ceramic.

The cloth can be used in wetting or wicking applications, both because of the material’s capillary and pore structure and because of it’s hydrophilic, or water-loving, nature.

This textile is now being used in high-energy battery separators, as thermal insulation in crystal growing furnaces, and in filtering hot gases.

The ceramic cloth has a thermal conductivity of 0.1 to 0.25 W/mK over a temperature range from 500 °F to 3,500 °F (W = Watts; m = meters; K = degrees Kelvin).
