The Cronos yacht

A Timeless Yacht Design

The highlight of the Cronos yacht is stunningly intricate woodwork that almost seems to grow from within the opulent interior and extend across spacious decks before pouring over into the water. The elaborate flooring and siding leaves little to be desired from additional furnishings. This is recognized in its otherwise minimal, albeit somewhat futuristic, interior and exterior. I’d never want to leave!

GVAL chair

Wooden Perfection

Inspired by the rings of a tree, the organic shape and texture of the GVAL chair’s alternating sheets of plywood serve as a visual and tangible reminder of both nature and memory. Perfectly nested inside the hollow chair are 2 additional segments that can be used as footrests, or combined to form another chair. Magnifique!
GVAL is a First Prize Winner in the Making Chairs category of the interational
competition Art On Chairs, awarded by the Paredes Center of Furniture
Design.

Kompost

Composting The Easy Way

I want to compost but something about the process turns me off. The idea that there’s rotting garbage in a plastic bin on my lawn goes against every thing I deem to be “designed” about my life and to a lesser extent, my yard. Enter the KOMPOST – a ceramic cylinder you bury half way into the ground. Dump your organic matter into the top and thanks to the easy access holes, our friends the worms will turn your garbage into rich compost.

Milking stool

The Modern Milking Stool

Designer: Noddy Boffin
“All the really good ideas I ever had came to me while I was milking a cow.” Inspired by the artist Grant Wood’s famous quote, the Milking Stool has all the trappings of a really good idea. The stool is simple, however unique with its contrasted tones of cork and ply, as well as its additional smart strip of bright stainless steel that belts the whole thing together like a ribbon. Lightweight, stackable, eco-friendly, recyclable, and visually charming… what more could you ask for?!

Lederen vloer

Lederen vloer: degelijk, luxueus en tikje extravagant.

lederrestanten

Dry Land

The Water Absorbent Coaster convincingly fools guests into thinking they shattered your coaster! This eco-friendly water absorbent coaster is crafted from concrete and non-toxic recycled materials to give it that green edge. With a typical beach theme of Spiral Shell, Princess Shell, Empty Bottle, and Footprint; my pick is the Dry Land for the most obvious reasons! Let’s play the prank NOW!

Banana's And Luxery

At the 2011 Paris Maison and Objet trade show, the authority on luxury tableware, Pigment France, debuted a new collection of products made from sustainable material. Sustainable and high-end service ware are two concepts rarely presented together, but this event marked not only the cardinal introduction of the banana plant derived material Green Blade to the market, but also showed that luxury can be ecoconscious.

Growing Chair

Oh, the Swiss. Look at what Michel Bussien’s made. It’s called the “Growing Chair” and it’s potted just for you! Sit on your favorite tree and think about how elvish you are. You can see it growing like it’s an ant-farm! Potted and on rollers here, but if you plant it with the right elements in nature, remove the box and the plant is treeish!
Generally trees are pretty comfortable to sit in. They are made that way for monkeys. Monkeys sit in trees and just hang out because trees were made for monkeys to hang out in. Because we humans were never meant to climb tall trees to sit in, the seat portion of the tree is generally higher than most people can reach. That’s where this chair comes in! Bend nature to your will!

Mother Nature's Tool instead of Plastic

Wood Casted Furniture

Today we come across this beautifully wood casted furniture by Hilla Shamia, showcased during Milan Design Week this year. Hot aluminium is being poured onto wood. We love the mix of modern and heritage in the outcoming pieces, the fact that you can still see the wood in all its natural form.

Shwood

t’s back to Mother Nature as far as the Shwood sunglasses are concerned. Handcrafted with a mix of precision technology and good ol’ fashioned craftsmanship, this collection features shades made from East Indian Rosewood coupled with mirrored and polarized lenses. The style seen here is called Ashland that comes packaged in a protective wooden hard case; crafted from a mix of Walnut and European Maple. A lot of wood in there I tell you! Fashionable and chic! Price begins at $145 a piece.
